Manufacturing SMEs do not have an โAIโ problem.
They have a selection problem.
There are thousands of digital, AI and robot solutions, yet productivity has barely moved. Why?
Manufacturing SMEs donโt scale like software. Your limits are machines, people and floor space, and most new tools ignore that.
The options are endless, so knowing where to start is the hard part. Thatโs why we prepare your team before we build anything.
We are AI plumbers. We donโt chase cutting-edge demos but connect proven tools to your machines, people and data, and we get them running. They are fast to deploy and pay off even at small batch sizes.
Our methods build on over four years of world-class research into how manufacturers scale and years on German shop floors. From Queensland and Lower Saxony, we help you with AI strategy, AI agents and AI robots.
Intelligence in Motion
Left (ฯ0 video)
The north star. This technology already exists today, but itโs not on the market yet. Physical Intelligenceโs ฯ0 is a quite advanced general-purpose robot model, where one model can execute many tasks, from folding laundry to packing boxes. Right now it lives in research labs, and itโs improving fast. Weโve been to Silicon Valley to talk with cutting-edge robotics founders and others at the frontier, so we know whatโs coming and roughly when it will reach shop floors like yours.
Right (real-world hackathon by us)
What you can do today. In September we ran a two-day embodied AI hackathon in Amsterdam with the worldโs largest bicycle manufacturer. Their teams worked side by side with our robot arms and trained them on real tasks. Along the way they learned where the technology already works, where it still struggles and what to watch out for before investing.
We believe in a collaborative approach. We can put one- or two-arm robots on your floor today, but we also help you understand your problems, judge what is worth automating and prepare your team for whatโs coming. With your own data, you can build many solutions yourself.
What We Do
-
It all starts with a floor walk. We spend a day on your shop floor and a day in your office, walking through your operation together. We follow a job from drop-off to pickup and show you where your capacity really goes. Most of the time it isnโt the machine. Itโs a decision nobody has made yet, or a number nobody can see.
Floor walk plus a day in the office
A brief or extended analysis, depending on what you need
A straight answer on what to fix, and whether technology has anything to do with it
Fixed price, two weeks, and no surprises
-
These days you may use an LLM to create a digital artifact. However, what is the problem you are solving in the first place, and could AI agents help? Thatโs why we always look at the problem first and only then decide whether an agent is the right tool.
We understand the problem before we choose the tool
Rapid build and quick deployment
Every fix is tied to a number we measure

From our bases in Lower Saxony and Queensland, we deploy a variety of AI handling arms for manufacturing. Weโll tell you honestly whether your bottleneck needs an extra pair of hands or whether itโs something a fast-deploy robot canโt solve. You can see examples of similar robots here.
Fast deployment of our arms for simple, repetitive tasks
An honest view of what robots can do for you today and whatโs coming next
If our robots arenโt the right fit, we connect you with implementers we trust

We bring both sides of the table. On the academic side, we've spent five years researching at UQ how manufacturers scale, so our strategy work is grounded in research rather than a template we bought. On the hands-on side, we've spent ten years working inside the world's largest bicycle manufacturer, so we know where the work actually stops. Our partner in Europe is an engineer who also works in the education sector, which means we know how to build the technology and how to help your people understand it.
Based in Lower Saxony and Queensland, we know who's doing this well in both Germany and Australia. We bring German manufacturing insight to Australia and Australian thinking back to Germany. Sometimes the most useful thing we can do is put you in a room with the right person, and that costs you nothing. We're in this for long-term relationships and want to see manufacturers in both countries thrive.

โI had the pleasure of working with Simon [โฆ]. His positivity and spirit were contagious. Add to that his brilliance and ability to not only grasp complex technical concepts, but his ability to follow through on critical deliverables were exceptional. He is an absolute joy to work with, and is someone I quickly came to rely on as he always delivered the best possible solution. I hope I'm lucky enough to work with Simon again. After 45 years in the data center industry, I know talent when I see it. I would hire him right now if he wasn't engaged in completing his PhD.โ

A few weeks ago I sat down with Patrick Galvin, author of The Connectorโs Way, The Trusted Way, and The Daily Connector. What started as a casual Zoom call years ago after I first reached out to Patrick for a quote for a past blogpost, quickly became one of the most energizing conversations Iโve had this year.
We talked about startup burnout, boundaries, asking for favors, and why startup founders often overlook their most strategic asset:
Relationships.
